

This week, I dealt with multiple cases of Second Chance Program workers being punished and fired for getting sick.
In one case, the worker insisted on staying at work while sick. However the boss made her leave and go to the hospital.
The poor woman returned to work with documentation and was still punished. The mismanager said “because you are a Second Chancer, I have to write you up for unexcused absence.”
That was a lie and the union rep who sat in silence that day should be exposed and removed from office.
In typical fashion, the CTA mismanagement covers up their exploitative modern-day slavery program with cuteness.
Their “Sprinkle of Joy” events are indicative of the very little dignity that the CTA mismanagement wants Second Chancers to experience. They pour so much punishment on them, that if they do not do things like this, they risk facing widespread dissent and more public scrutiny.
