One way to end exploitation of workers in the Second Chance Program is to change the Agreement (Please make sure you sign the petition).
As part of my goal to abolish the Second Chance Program in its current form, I have re-written Attachment O to make it a true Apprentice Program. Highlights:
- Six month maximum duration with guaranteed path to Full-Time Permanent status.
- Each Apprentice will work under the supervision of one Full-Time Permanent Rail Car Servicer or Rail Janitor.
- Benefits will be the same as Full-Time Permanent, but hourly rate will be 60% of the Full-Time Permanent hourly rate.
- Rail Car Servicer "Apprentice" cannot clean the exteriors of rail cars (So-called Exterior Wash duty).

God willing, I will be sworn in as Vehicle Maintenance Executive Board member for Local 308 on the second Tuesday of January 2024. I am looking forward to rocking the boat, shaking the foundation and knocking down the idols of greed and fear at the CTA.
