Compensation for Cost of Tuition at all CSU’s (California State Universities)
The Issue
- Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, various aspects included in the cost of tuition for CSU students have now become unavailable. Particularly, at CSULB, the Student Recreation and Wellness Center is now closed. This is a resource that we rely on for our health, and to which we have put our hard-earned money. In addition to that, other resources we have paid for will no longer be put to use like the $200+ parking permits we will not need since in-person classes are now cancelled, and we are required to quarantine in our homes. The costs of these resources are included within the cost of our tuition. Now that the rest of our semesters have transitioned to online instruction, these campus resources are no longer available. In addition to this financial loss, many of us are also put out of work. We, as students, believe we should be compensated for the costs of these resources.
