FRENCH IMMERSION SHOULD STAY AT SARDIS SECONDARY SCHOOL

Hi there, I am a current grade 11 student enrolled at Sardis Secondary School in the French Immersion program. I am interested in attending the next school boards meeting to voice my opinion on why French Immersion should stay at Sardis Secondary. It is going to be difficult to get a scholarship due to lack of teachers knowing and seeing our academical efforts, All school and catchment changes affect Teenagers immensely, Students attending french immersion that were transferred from Chilliwack Middle School to Sardis Secondary already pay 200$ to attend the program for bussing and many parents will not want to pay that if their child moves even further from home for schooling. Many students such as myself graduating in 2019 are willing to drop out of the French Immersion program because of the MANY negative effects it will have on us. It will be hard to participate in grad events because of lack of friendship and lack of school knowledge. Sardis has many programs other high-schools do not have such as automotive that french immersion students would like to take in their secondary schooling but would not be able to if we were to get switched from SSS to GWG. If there were an option to do just French Immersion at GWG, then the rest of our schooling at SSS in the same day, it would be a hassle. Many of us would not be able to drive ourselves to and from the two schools and the ones who can, are not going to pay for gas when the solution could be to keep french immersion at Sardis instead of having to alternate schools everyday. Buses are costly, and i know for me, i will NOT pay to get buses to transport me back and forth from schools. I as a Canadian citizen should be able to stay in one spot to finish not only my secondary education but also my accomplishment of obtaining a double dogwood. I (as well as MANY others) are appalled by the decision the school board is making. I am asking for something completely rational that i know IS an option. Schools are supposed to support and help our decisions but us as French Immersion students don't feel that is happening at the moment.
