Hitchin DevelopEBP, an alternative training provider that delivers bespoke programmes for learners with SEMH barriers and SEN is due to CLOSE AT THE END OF JULY 2021. 

WHY ARE WE CLOSING? - Due to financial reasons the ESFA, our main funding body has made the decision to end all of the DevelopEBP centre, contracts at the end of July. 

WHAT DOES THESE MEAN? Based in the Wilbury Way Industrial Estate, we currently provide a bespoke provision for 28 learners; these learners will not be able to progress further with us next year. We also have a further 15 referrals with EHCP's who all need a calm environment, focusing on positive behaviour support to thrive and gain their qualifications. We cater for learners across Bedfordshire and Hertfordshire with learners attending from Sandy down to Welwyn Garden City.  

We provide vocational qualifications alongside Maths and English. Our provision also offers confidence building, wellbeing support and community inclusion support, we value these as young people need these to flourish and gain independence.

THE FUTURE- Without this provision, many of our learners will be forced back into main stream education which has been overwhelming for them with large class sizes and environments, this could potential undo all of the hard work they have done with us to grow. Some may 'drop out' of education and become NEETS, again destroying the confidence of these young people. 

WHAT DO WE NEED?- We need our local community support to be a voice for our young people. We want all to recognise how important our provision is and the need for it in the area. We would also welcome discussions with any investors who would be interested in funding our centre for an initial year.
