Currently, birth control (such as condoms and dental dams) are not allowed to be distributed or made available on The College of Saint Rose campus. This decision was passed by former president, Dr. Vaccaro in order to keep with Catholic tradition. The College of Saint Rose is no longer strictly a Catholic institution, but rather interfaith, and more spiritual than religious. Therefore, there is no reason why the college must maintain this tradition. Access to free birth control on campus is incredibly important, because many students either cannot afford it, are afraid, or do not have the means to get themselves to a center that offers it for free. A campus that is open to discussing and promoting sexual health is a college that is open and communicative. It is one that is actively working to break down the wall of shame around sex in our society.
