The city's economic opportunity administrator stated: "“We wanted to take the opportunity to show people this is what the consensus was.” The City of Tampa maintains their position that the Bro Bowl does not possess the historical integrity to warrant preservation, despite findings to the contrary by the City of Tampa Preservation Commission and the State of Florida Division of Historical Resources. In addition, the City of Tampa has chosen to ignore the signatures supporting the preservation of the Bro Bowl on this petition, and proceed with their original plan.
