The residents of St. Michael are asking the city to lift an ordinance banning homeowners from keeping backyard chickens (hens) in reasonable quantities. 

The advantages outweighs the disadvantages in raising hens in our backyards. There are endless health benefits, as well as bug control, composting, and fertilization. They are quiet animals that cause less disruption or mess than a dog or cat.

With inner cities now allowing residents to choose for themselves, it leaves St. Michael as one of the few.
