The city of schenectady, located just outside of the state capital, Albany, has been operating a holding facility for stray, seized and abandoned dogs. In violation of NYS Law, while held at the facility, the dogs are not provided with medical screening or care, not provided with daily food and water and the dogs never leave the building, which is located in the the sewage treatment plant. Their pens are not cleaned daily. No attempt is made to locate their owners or to enable owners to locate their lost dogs; no attempt is made to scan for microchips either. At the end of their hold, the dogs are transported to an animal hospital who euthanizes the dogs, without a sedative, at a reduced rate in exchange for being allowed to drain the dogs of blood to stock their blood bank. As the city of Schenectady has demonstrated, they cannot be trusted to operate a humane and legal holding facility for dogs, we ask that this facility be shut down immediately.

We want this facility closed down. It is inhumane, dirty and unfair to the animals.
