A little over a month ago, San Diego started seeing the growth of some beautiful flowers: knitted stop sign flowers on random street corners in Clairemont. Between waiting for pot holes to be fixed, rushing to work, stress of everyday life, we get to see these beautiful flowers on our way to our destination.
San Diego city offcial, Bill Harris wrote,""The City is forced to announce that the Stop Sign Flowers must come down. Even with the great community spirit this effort has generated, there are just too many restrictions to overcome. City staff looked through state law and local policies trying to find some way of allowing the flowers to remain in place. Unfortunately, particularly with traffic control signs and including all other City assets, there is just no way to retain the works where they now are".
So I propose we all sign this petition and write to the head of Transportation & Storm Water Department Bill Harris and Councilmember Lorie Zapf to explaining to them that as San Diego residents and taxpayers, we want the beautiful stop sign flowers to STAY in our neighborhoods.
By signing this peition, we are showing councilmember Lorie Zapf and higher officials that we are in support of these flowers.
