My idea of a great place for a warming center. What's yours?

Why I believe the Portsmouth Public Library would be the best place for a 24 hour - all winter long - warming center.

The Portsmouth Public Library is welcoming to all.

It is very spacious.

It has so many resources that could be utilized by those that need it, such as using the computers and IPads, meeting rooms if they need to meet with someone one on one, or gathering together for useful meetings pertaining to their situation ot meeting with a helper, quiet corners, books of every kind, newspapers, magazines, dvds, everything one needs for news and research, plus daytime activities if one is interested.

Comfortable sitting and reading space

centrally located just one block away from bus stop

During the day people could stay warm, and utilize research materials and be pro-active in finding more permanent shelter, finding a job if needed. They won't have to be ashamed or stigmatized. The library is meant to be for everyone.

At night there is plenty of space for cots that could be quickly folded and put away during the day.

At night they could have the peace of knowing they are in a safe building that would be locked at all times. They could feel safe enough to actually close their eyes and get some sleep.
