that the Portsmouth city council could at least pretend that they care about this!
Anyway, It has been stated several times that the Portsmouth Public Library could extend hours but I called the library this morning and they have not been asked yet. Huh?
Also the city manager emailed me weeks ago and said she would schedule an appointment with me but it hasn't happened. I need to be able to make my case. I cannot do that in a 3 minute public speaking session! She has also made reference since that only private entity will be considered? I hope I got that wrong. I don't have a problem with a private entity being a warming center if they make a commitment to the city...
The fire department has supposedly got some of the homeless pegged by labeling them service resistant. But they don't say why. I would be service resistant too if I had to call every 24 hours to get in out of the cold all winter long? I wonder what's up with that? Do they all even have phone service?
The petition is a simple request. The city can make the library available during the day which it already IS, and then just need one place to be a drop in center over night. Then it just needs to be announced and publicized so that everyone knows where the help is. It needs to stay current! What is the problem? I plan on finding out.
