For years in our fundamental education, we’re taught that pilgrims and Native Americans sat peacefully and ate food together and that’s how we found America. This is the furthest thing from the truth. The genocidal plot against natives has gone on for 400 years. The imprisonment of stolen Africans has gone on for 400 years. It all started with this lost fool. 
Christopher Columbus is a symbol of genocide, imperialism and general hate against fellow man. We as Americans have praised and worshipped false icons long enough. It’s time to take Chris down. Since Columbus “discovered” America over 8 million indigenous  people have been murdered, displaced, lied to, and double-crossed.  They were punished for not trusting European invaders(American-Indian war, French-Indian war, great Sioux war), and punished when they did trust white men(over 500 broken treaties, trail of tears, small pox blankets). Besides being murdered off, many indigenous people have lost/ or are in danger of losing  their cultural identity. Their languages, practices, religion, and way of life has long since been violated. What does modern America do? We build statues to the guy who decimated their land. It’s an absolute insult to native people. Enough is enough. Philadelphia,  do the right thing and tear down this symbol of oppression.
