Whereas the bicycle path facing the Vendôme metro station is not safe and poses a danger to cyclists, pedestrians as well as drivers and users of public transit;

Whereas the Notre-Dame-de-Grâce Cyclist and Pedestrian Association, the Westmont Association of Pedestrians and Cyclists, and the Montreal Cyclists Coalition are all of the opinion that this situation needs to addressed immediately;

Whereas Vélo Québec has declared that this situation is one of the top two problem areas for cyclists in Montreal and that it should be addressed as a priority;

Whereas the current public works around the Vendôme metro station will be completed in the near future;

Whereas the community has been informed that the bicycle path will likely be reinstalled in the same unsafe configuration as prior to the works after the current public works are completed;

It is therefore proposed that the City of Montreal and the Borough of Notre-Dame-de-Grâce – Côte-des-Neiges collaborate to assure that a safe, protected bicycle path be installed facing the Vendôme metro in a configuration that provides a continuous protection for cyclists from Décarie to Claremont, with breaks only at intersections.
