Local news media is reporting that the television shows 'COPS' will be filming along with the Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety this summer for eight weeks.  This show airs people at the worst moments in their life without regard of them being victims or suspects of a crime and their consent is not legally required to be on television.

Kalamazoo taxpayer resources should not be used to subsidize this tabloid like television show that seeks to profit off people at what could be the worst moments of their lives and airing those moments on national television.

We ask the city manager to reverse the decision or for the city commission to direct the city manager to reverse the decision.
