Save our Currie Cemetery groundskeeper

Save our Currie Cemetery groundskeeper
The Issue
Our Currie Cemetery groundskeeper, Sam, has been removed of his duties and moved to another location after the council confirmed that they are cutting jobs/have staffing issues across Edinburgh.
The garden area at the cemetery is maintained to a such high quality, and creates a lovely space for friends and relatives to visit their loved ones’ graves. Sam has gone above and beyond his duties for decades, and keeps our local cemetery looking beautiful all year round.
The council now propose that the cemetery grounds will be ‘cut and strimmed on average every 2-3 weeks during the summer months’ by a team of various gardeners, and that Sam could at some point be ‘part of this team’. There is also only a ‘possibility’ that Sam could return as our groundskeeper after the current cemetery employee difficulties have been resolved.
It is really hoped the council will reconsider their decision, and avoid the area becoming run down and overgrown, like much of our local green areas are fast becoming - if everyone signs our petition and voice our whole community’s disappointment, it is hoped Sam can return as our groundskeeper on a full-time basis as before.
