Holy Egg on Pritzker's Face: Now We Must Keep the Legal Pressure On!

Predicting the U.S. Supreme Court would hand him a defeat on his discriminatory shuttering of churches across the State of Illinois, Gov. Pritzker pulled back on his anti-religious COVID-19 restrictions Thursday as the state enters PHASE 3 reopening. Judge Brett Kavanaugh told the Pritzker Administration earlier this week they had until the end of Thursday to respond to an Illinois church's emergency request challenging the forced closure of houses of worship. 

Pritzker had no choice: Either ease restrictions on churches or wait, with egg on his face, for the U.S. Supreme Court to hand him an embarrassing defeat. 

The growing public protest against Gov. Pritzker's unconstitutional overreach and the arbitrary application of the orders have given the Democrat governor a black eye, forcing him to back down as courts serve him defeat after defeat. But for the filing of lawsuits, Governor Pritzker's extreme and arbitrary rules would have continued unchecked. 

Pritzker's orders, however, remain among the harshest in the U.S. Even as business bankruptcies mount and Illinois unemployment figures devastate a state that was already underwater from mounting debt from years of pension mismanagement and corrupt spending practices. 

Under Pritzker's Phase 3 "reopening," "Non-essential" businesses are only allowed to operate at 50% capacity. Businesses that aren't bankrupt yet soon will be. Thousands of jobs may not come back. Under Pritzker's guidelines, houses of worship may have 25% or less inside. Even in Phase 3, restaurants continue to be the hardest hit under the Governor's plan. 

We must keep the pressure to recall Governor Pritzker on. With Democrat control of the Illinois General Assembly, this will not be easy but it must be done. We must continue to file lawsuits to check his abuses of power. Millions of residents and business owners have been destroyed by Governor Pritzker's abuses of power and that cannot stand. We cannot back down.
