Gov. Pritzker, Mayor Lightfoot: You've failed the people of Illinois, Chicago
82 people in Chicago were shot and 21 died this weekend. But it wasn't due to COVID-19. It was due to the failure of Gov. Pritzker and Mayor Lightfoot.
On Saturday, Chicago's downtown, Oak Street, State Street and Loop were hit with widespread looting, destruction of property, graffiti and cars set ablaze. Small businesses were burned to the ground. Were the violent George Floyd looters - sorry, protesters - from ANTIFA and BLM practicing social distancing? Did they limit their protests to a group of 10? Will Lightfoot or Pritzker fine or punish them? No, no, and no!
Violent ANTIFA and BLM protesters get a special set of rules while Pritzker and Lightfoot demand a different, harsher standard and punishment from law-abiding Illinois residents. Thanks to the violent protesters, Chicago's grocery stores are closed; pharmacies are closed and folks can't get their medicine; people can't buy bread or milk; the expressways are shut down; the CTA is closed. Meanwhile, in neighborhoods throughout Chicago and now other areas of Illinois - cities, and suburbs, the violent looters run rampant, smashing windows and looting Walmart and Target and Walgreen stores and small businesses unfettered. Springfield, Aurora, Oak Brook, Lombard, Champaign, DeKalb, Bloomington and more. From Southern Illinois to Central Illinois and Chicago to the North and West.
So much for the COVID-19 shutdown. Did the shutdown only apply to everyday citizens who follow the rules and businesses struggling to make their payroll? Are Illinois churches a bigger threat to Lightfoot and Pritzker than violent looters and criminals?
Lightfoot and Pritzker pretended they wanted to reopen Illinois but they want to keep it closed for good. They want us to stay-at-home and force us into a permanent curfew.
