To the Charleston County School District Board of Trustees and Superintendent:

We, the undersigned residents of Charleston’s (South Carolina) Garden District, oppose CCSD’s reassignment of our neighborhood from Memminger Elementary School to Sanders-Clyde Elementary School.

The public-school assignment of an entire neighborhood is a matter of lasting importance to the whole community. It affects the neighborhood’s identity, continuity, and ability to remain a place where families can establish roots and stay.

Individual residents may have different reasons for opposing the reassignment. We are united, however, in asking the Board to rescind the portion of Option 5 approved on March 9, 2026, that reassigned the Garden District to Sanders-Clyde, and to restore the neighborhood’s long standing attendance-zone assignment to Memminger Elementary School.
