PRATAP JAMPALA started this petition to The Central government and

It has been reported by various news agencies that the Andhra Pradesh Government has initiated a process of identifying "Temple Lands" for (Grabbing in the garb of Social Justice) distribution to the Land-less, home-less etc. This is nothing but the loot of temple lands and re-distribution of the lands to their own party men who are other wise poor or plain land grab for distribution to party cadre or local henchmen. This sort of re-distribution of temple lands has already been done by various governments in Andhra Pradesh in the past but there is hardly any good result achieved by this sort of activity. People get the land and after a certain period sell it off or lease it for petty sums, thereby defeating the very purpose of such schemes.

I would like to quote the example of land belonging to Sri Sree Bhoo Neela Sahita Sri Chenna Kesava Swamy Temple in Duggirala Village, Emani Taluk, Guntur District, AP:

Some time during the 1995-1999 period, the entire land belonging to the temple quoted above has been  grabbed by the then Telugu Desam Party Government and the same was supposedly distributed to people who had no homes in the village. More than 75% of the people (Allottees) have lost title or leased the land for petty sums and the purpose for which the lands were allotted has been defeated. After the lands were divested from the temple, the temple could not pay (even) one pujari his salary, nor could the (HR & CE appointed) temple management light the oil lamp in the temple 3 times a day. Such is the situation that the Pujari is forced to do more than one job to survive and have the Lamp lighted  just once a day or occasionally twice a day. Now a new government has taken the reigns of AP State and the same thing appears to be getting repeated again.

Grabbing temple lands and re-distribution to the (supposedly) POOR People is just a ruse to escape from the State Governments responsibilities for providing "ROTI, KAPADA & MAKAAN" to these (supposedly) poor people. Why not implement the land reforms thoroughly and grab lands from the rich to re-distribute to the poor? Why do you give promises (during electioneering) that you cannot fulfill ? Is the God in the Temple responsible for fulfilling your promises? This land grab from Hindu Temples is 'outrageous ' and illegal. We want the Hindu Temples to run their affairs independently without being a tool in the hands of the ruling dispensation.

I sincerely request the A P State Government, The Andhra Pradesh High Court, The Supreme Court and the Parliament of INDIA to devote a little time to this issue and stop this illegal, motivated and fruitless Temple Land Grab by Politicians and State Government with the backing of the state bureaucracy. I request the Govt. Of India to advice the AP State Govt not to go ahead with this scheme which is not in the interest of the well being of the 84% Hindus in this Country. I also Request the Central Govt to enact a law to ensure that the elected state governments (Especially) in the Southern States desist from indulging in Temple Land Grab.

I request the Hindu Community in the South to Support my Petition to ensure that the A P State Government does not go ahead with this illegal scheme.

I request the Central Govt to enact a law to ensure that this does not happen in any state in India in the future.
