Similar to the Movies, the trailers are given certificates to ensure that the inappropriate Movie trailers are not shown to underage children.

This practice is not followed in India. Although a certificate is given to the trailer, it is merely displayed before the trailer is displayed. It is at the discretion of the theater to choose what trailers to show before the movie. Many times trailers that are certified as A are shown in movies rated U or U/A. It is obvious, that as the movie is rated U or U/A, there are children present in the theater when the trailer is displayed.

The theater must make sure that the certificate of the trailer must be according to the certificate of the movie being screened.

If the movie is rated A, then any trailer can be shown. If movie is rated U/A, then only U/A and U rated trailers can be shown. If the movie is rated U, then only U rated trailers can be shown. This practice must be strictly followed.
