The Issue

The CDC needs to say whether "diabetes" means Type 1 or Type 2 diabetes.

The Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) released data showing a decline in diabetes cases. The CDC allows you to see the data by gender, ethnicity, age etc... but fails to breakdown the diagnoses by type. Nowhere is an option to see how the cases by type, whether that be Type 1, Type 2, gestational, or rarer forms of diabetes.

Our request is simple: the CDC needs to release the segmented data, by diabetes type.

There is continued public confusion over what the differences are between T1 and T2 diabetes. It is important that the CDC not further this confusion with unspecific data, and even more critical that those who rely on the data have accurate information.
