Remove Cannabis (Marijuana) Restrictions from Gun Background Checks

Remove Cannabis (Marijuana) Restrictions from Gun Background Checks
The Issue
The majority of the US, thirty-three states currently, have legal medical marijuana. Over 2.6 million patients use it to help with their ailments and conditions according to MMP.org as of 2018 (https://www.mpp.org/issues/medical-marijuana/state-by-state-medical-marijuana-laws/medical-marijuana-patient-numbers/). This is a very conservative number which doesn't include many of the patients whom live in one of the eleven states and D.C. area which have recreational marijuana laws.
Any of these patients, however, can be charged with a felony crime if they own firearms due to question 11.e on the Background Check form 4473 which asks "Are you an unlawful user of, or addicted to, marijuana or any depressant, stimulant, narcotic drug, or any other controlled substance?”. Are these patients any less deserving than other citizens to be able exercise their 2nd Amendment right to protect themselves and their families?
This is a blatant overstep to the 2nd Amendment as well as a slap in the face to States' rights by the Federal Government. We as citizens cannot tolerate this controlling behavior by the Federal Government. We must stand up and demand our rights be protected and upheld. I am calling for our President Donald J. Trump, the bipartisan support from the House and Senate, and the ATF to fix this problem by whatever means possible.
