The issue we students have as a collective with the CIE and British council  is that we have been overtly downgraded in subjects that if we would have sat, we would achieve equivalent if not higher grades than we were predicted. What schools and the grading system did not take into consideration was the students O Level / IGCSE grades; moreover, they did not account for independent study time. Most students in Pakistan spend their entire night out studying at various academies  with the best teachers in their respective fields to bump up their grades by 2 Letter grades. The school only lets the exam board know of the students rank in their class, not only do teachers hold grudges against students who choose to study from another teacher by taking their classes along side theirs but their rank order may differ based on many things because as is they are human and are inclined to Favor some students over others. Furthermore, some teachers have been teaching most of the students in their class since o levels, so when new kids join they are less likely to prefer them over the students they’ve known for a better half of 4 years. Basing grades upon rank order not only puts students who may not have the closest connections with their teachers at risk, because as many know these A-Level grades define our future and what universities we end up in, and many if not most did not meet the mark when these abstract grades were used. It only seems appropriate for students to be judged solely off of merit, their predicted grades and the schools general performance throughout the years. And if they wish to refute these grades they should bring up valid arguments as to why their predicted grades are not up to par and many students do have very valid reason for that. THE BRITISH COUNCIL AND CIE needs to award the appropriate grades, because as of now 2020 students have received the worst grades compared to the years before.
