On Monday April 20th the board of trustees will be voting on what the future of the Vermont state college system is going to look like. The Board of Trustees and State Government will potentially close NVU if that’s what’s agreed by vote. We are a state public tax dollar funded university. Our soul mission as a University is to provide students with a high-quality education through the state college system as every state provides to the public throughout our country. 

As NVU senior Emily Cass stated “Democracy does not work unless the peoples voices are heard.” Our state leaders are making decisions on the future of our education for students  within Vermont without the the critical information needed from who this big decision is impacting, the students.
State Leaders need to understand what this NVU college system means to each of you in the opportunity it provides. And how are unique experiences on each campus is growing us as individuals. 
The importance of keeping NVU as an accessible higher education institution for our students and for our communities is crucial. Northern Vermont University has become a home for students and staff, triumphs and experiences that will be cherished forever are made at this campus.

Taking away this University without understanding the tremendous devastation being put not only on the country wide NVU community but on thousands of student’s education is unacceptable.
