James Dickinson started this petition to The Bluebird Project

Bluebird K7 is Donald Campbell’s iconic jet hydroplane in which he was killed in 1967. In 2001 she was raised from the bed of Coniston Water and she was donated to The Ruskin Museum by The Campbell Family. An agreement was made that Bluebird K7 be restored to her former condition and was to be displayed in the Ruskin Museum. Bluebird K7 was entrusted to Bill Smith, then of Kiltech Underwater Ltd, and was to be rebuilt using volunteer labour and money raised by donations and merchandise sales, there was also many donations of parts and equipment to enable her to be restored.
Bill Smith is now refusing to honour that agreement and would rather break up the restoration than have her returned to her owners. The Ruskin Museum wish to have Bluebird K7 displayed in the Museum and intend to run her on Coniston Water so everyone can see her. Many people have donated to this restoration on the understanding that Bluebird K7 would be returned to Coniston to be near her Skipper who is buried in the graveyard at Coniston only a few hundred yards from her purpose built home, erected especially to house her, which was part of the original project.

Please sign this petition to ensure this national icon is seen by everyone and returned to her spiritual home.
