Downgrade Facebook's A+ rating with the Better Business Bureau
The Issue
This petition, to be delivered to the Better Business Bureau, is requesting that the B.B.B. reevaluate Facebook's B.B.B. rating. Facebook is a Better Business Bureau accredited business and currently has an A+ rating with the bureau. We are asking for your signature on this petition to express your concern with the rating that Facebook has been assigned, if not the ethical nature of the rating system itself, and we encourage you to enter a negative review or file a complaint against Facebook with the Better Business Bureau if you have any cause to do so or have had a negative experience. The Better Business Bureau has assigned Facebook a rating of A+ in spite of the fact that Facebook has received [9,044] Total Customer Complaints for Advertising/Sales Issues [711], Billing/Collection Issues [499], Delivery Issues [70], Guarantee/Warranty Issues [87], and Problems with Product/Service [7704]. The complainants verified that their issue(s) were resolved to their satisfaction in only 17% of the time (1604 complaints). Facebook has only [14] Positive Reviews, [33] Neutral Reviews, & [377] Negative Reviews which have been registered with the Better Business Bureau.

If you do file a complaint against Facebook with the B.B.B. you may receive the response we received as follows: "Thank you for contacting our office regarding your BBB complaint ... If a response is received from the business on your behalf it will be forwarded to you. A few things that you should know about BBB’s services. One of our primary functions is to serve as a reporting agency. We encourage an open platform for dialogue between the consumer & Business. We do not have enforcement capabilities. We will report on your concerns for a period of 36 months. If we are unable to help you resolve your concerns we’ll refer you to a regulatory agency who may be able to assist you."
Does the Better Business Bureau practice it's own ethical standards and policies. Does it Start With Trust® and end there? The B.B.B. operates independently functioning branches across the U.S. and ironically does not provide a method of registering a complaint about the Better Business Bureau, with the Better Business Bureau, on their own platform.
If Facebook values the ethical nature of B.B.B. accreditation and rating system employed by the Better Business Bureau, can they provide a sufficient reason for the failure to receive a successful resolution to such a large percentage of the complaints filed against them. So that it may be fully understood and be able to guide the Better Business Bureau in their determination and efforts to make sure that a business is rated independently from their decision to become accredited, we encourage you to file a complaint or enter a review of your experiences with Facebook to the B.B.B. so that they may ensure that the assignment of an A+ rating for a business which has gained a large negative following is truly envisioning the highest ethical standards associated with a Better Business Bureau accredited business so that the rating assigned to them does not undermine the respect for other accredited businesses or diminish the value of the B.B.B. rating system in the estimation of the general public. At this time, we have the highest respect for businesses which elect to become accredited, but are beginning to have our doubts as to the ethical nature or implementation of the rating system the Better Business Bureau employs.
