The Berkeley Community Denounces Intimidation of Berkeley Teacher/ Union Leader
Why this petition matters
To the Berkeley Community:
We strongly condemn the actions of a Berkeley resident who followed one of our teachers in his personal life, filming his young daughter at her preschool and posting it on the internet. Intimidation was the clear motive of this action; violating the privacy of this teacher’s family, including a young child, is clearly out of bounds.
Whatever your position on returning to in-person learning, there is no place in our public discourse to target the child of someone with whom you disagree. Such intimidation tactics are both frightening and dangerous; they do absolutely nothing to bring our students back into their classrooms or support learning for all students.
Such tactics do not represent the values that we wish our children to learn in Berkeley public schools.
We roundly denounce these actions and demand a full apology to the family that was harassed and cyber bullied. In addition, we ask that this video be removed from YouTube.
Sincerely,
Berkeley parents, teachers, school workers, and concerned community members.
