I have to say, I am very impressed with BBC Store. Initially the store had just a few single dramas on offer which had already been released to DVD (see previous update) However just this last week, they have added many unsung gems, including several early Dennis Potter plays and, following an email I sent to them recommending stuff from Screen One and Two, a selection of plays from those series too! They are very open to requests for programmes and, if the copyright is available to them, they will upload wherever possible. Now for the less than good news - to see these gems again you do have to pay for them. On average they're charging £3.99 per programme. Obviously we would much prefer it if these classics were repeated on TV once more for free (or rather, inside the licence fee we already pay) rather than pay extra to see them, but as I am sure you can appreciate this is the next best thing and a great leap forwards compared to the state of affairs when I started this petition in January. For now, we need to keep this petition going and keep requesting plays on the store - only the can they see there is an audience for the many brilliant dramas languishing in their archives, gathering dust.
