The values of the Babson community were not upheld throughout the Presidential Search Process.
- The Babson College Board of Trustees
On behalf of the Babson Student and Alumni Community;
This petition is inspired by our concerns for the future of the Babson community in light of the recent leadership transition. As Babson students, we have been taught from “day one” to take ownership over our community. We take this responsibility very seriously. During the selection process, we anticipated that the administration would seek out an appropriate candidate to embody Babson’s inherent values of “integrity, honesty, respect, trust, fairness, and ownership.” While we value and respect the administration’s efforts in the presidential search, the results make us question whether these values were the sole focus of the process. We question whether our input as a community was heard.
The informal session to be held this Friday is a good beginning to the conversation. We look forward to the promise of honest answers to questions about Babson’s strategy and leadership transition. In return, we will meet this gesture of transparency with well-prepared questions and thoughts. We are committed to learning more about the specific criteria and rationale behind the choice that was made. We are committed to ensuring that the values of Babson and desires of the community are the focus of every process moving forward.
We, the undersigned, support this statement.
