Our Australian Constitution - in its current form - is the best guarantor of our hard fought for freedoms and liberties. Our apolitical, impartial crown is there to protect each and every one of us against the excesses of our politicians on both sides of the political spectrum. Unfortunately, too many of us take it for granted. Like a fire extinguisher on the wall, many of its safeguards are rarely used... yet they have successfully protected us from the misfortunes which have ravaged less fortunate lands. For those of us who prefer for Australia to remain a Constitutional Monarchy and oppose Mr. Peter FitzSimons' populist and divisive politician's republic.
