The late. internationally-famous Australian cartoonist Bill Leak demonstrated great courage combined with wit and wisdom in his brilliant cartoons that challenged misguided authorities and presented inarguable truths.

His astounding creativity enlightened not only the lives but the intellects of huge numbers of Australians who 'couldn't wait' for his next sharp-witted, extremely funny public poke at those in authority who abundantly deserved it.

Bill Leak was, without question, the voice for a great majority of 'ordinary' Australians and overwhelmingly deserves the accolade of Australian of the Year, 2017.
