Shocking new figures have revealed that 35 people were killed in and around licensed venues between 2000-10 - with three of the deaths directly linked to security staff.These figures are only in Victoria,Australia.

There have been other deaths in the other states of Australia including that of my son, David Barbour, 19 in 2007 at Castle Hill Tavern, N.S.W.
Something must be done before another life is lost.
I recommend that all bouncers/security/crowd controllers undertake a comprehensive, accredited training program approved by the justice system and government with a supervised probationary period before being fully licenced. I also recommend that people applying for security jobs have mandatory police checks to ensure they have no criminal records. Alcohol and drug testing of security staff should be mandatory before reporting for work each day.Bouncers/security/crowd controllers should be stood down and lose their licences if involved in any altercation causing injury or death to patrons of the business they are working at.
