Petition updateAUSTRALIAN KINSHIP CARERS NEED YOUR HELPIs this 'good enough' care for a toddler under 2? Well DOCs Qld think it is!

This carer had to go to family court & had no DOCS support as they deemed the child safe in this putrid environment and would not intervene. Above is the picture of the living conditions the child was removed from by a relative. "The whole house was similar. My husband removed a trailer load of rubbish, including dirty nappies, food scraps, drug paraphernalia including used needles, cat faeces. He then removed 19 garbage bags of soiled clothes and linen. He found 3 empty bottles of "Painstop Nighttime. The child slept in that bed with her, the used needles were in clothes baskets and on accessible shelves etc." Due to no Docs involvement the relative had to get orders through the court to protect this innocent young life, at a huge financial cost, losing their house, their business & their superannuation to pay legal fees. This little life may not have survived had the relative not stepped in. Why did Docs not act? That's a million dollar question. Many reports were made, they visited and (did they go in? who knows?) maybe they were blinded by the act the mother put on. What ever the reason, this is graphic evidence that the child protection system needs a complete overhaul. How many other babies are living in these conditions as I type this as it is not deemed an unsafe environment by child protection? Please note the dummy/pacifier under the bed!
