The purpose of the ASCEND-2027 Campaign is to drive a UK Referendum to make Government work better to serve the People.  To do this so that reform can be achieved at zero-risk during a Parliamentary Recess (proposed for 2027) whilst keeping our current MPs in place as part of the Government's drive for Economic Growth.  Reform that will be self-funded by realising ongoing taxpayer savings of some £80M PA.

To upgrade our system of 2-House Parliamentary Democracy to drive Growth for our Infrastructures, Healthcare, other public services and the money in our pockets. To restore faith in politics ahead of a 2029 Election with more choice and in which all votes will count in forming policy.

ASCEND is based on the principle that the only viable future for Democracy is fostering National Unity and a common-sense of purpose in improving our lives. That a country's skills and resources must therefore be focussed towards that goal. That economies divided by political dogma and with strategically ill-considered policy (purely for votes) will inevitably decline & loose ground against authoritarian states.

The ASCEND Reforms attain this political refocus by symbiotically empowering both the People and those in Government by giving seconded representatives of our businesses and the providers of public services equal influence to our elected politicians. By the same token, giving Government the knowledge, bandwidth and skills it needs to support the goals of the Executive to ensure ongoing integrity of policy.

ASCEND maximises Economic Growth by ensuring Strategic Continuity between Administrations ending the expensive chaos and disruption of each new Executive reversing the policies and investments of its predecessor. Enabling businesses & providers of public services to plan with greater certainty in investing and in employing people.

ASCEND therefore means a new-style Executive that sets the National Agenda but, within that, no longer attempts to impose policy. But (similar to that of a successful corporation) ensures it has the right people, with the right skills in the right places to form policy on its behalf to best meet the agenda objectives that citizens had voted for.

Under the Reforms, the elected Party's proposals therefore stay as proposed. Policy now being formed by rational debate by our elected Politicians (260 MPs promoted to a reformed Upper House in direct proportion to the Popular Vote) in which the Governing Party sets the Parliamentary Agenda and naturally has most influence with the most Politicians. 

A Government now elected by the Highest Popular Vote (no longer FPTP), no longer requiring a majority of MPs to govern, but the support of the PR-Assigned Politicians in the reformed Upper House. Counteracting the nonsense of empty-pledges and short-termist ill-considered policy invented purely to obtain power and a 5-year monopoly over policy.

A new, properly-informed Upper House that not only drafts policy across all 13 sectors of our Economy (Healthcare, Transport etc) , but also monitors their day-to-day performance to ensure timely corrective measures as necessary. Taxation policy being optimised across sectors and set by a Coordination Group headed by the Chancellor under guidance from economists and a non-partisan Treasury Secretary.

ASCEND retains our existing Voting System and Constituency MP Representation in The Commons. But reforms its confrontational 2-Party structure to an open debating chamber solely to represent Constituents and to debate and vote on Bills.

ASCEND therefore enables a straightforward, risk-free transition over a Recess (proposed for 2027), allowing it time to bed-down ahead of the 2029 General Election. When restricted and tactical voting, and the empty "pledges" of our politicians will have become things of the past and the votes of all citizens will count, each of their MPs having equal influence.
