Joseph Hameister started this petition to The American Waterways Operators

Lake Michigan is in danger of invasion from the little known Asian Carp. This fish, commonly referred to as the "water cow" by marine specialists, is a drain on critical natural resources in all bodies of water it inhabits. If allowed to migrate to our Great Lake, it will spread and multiply until it causes irreparable damage and is forever entrenched in our waters. These carp were originally brought to the United States in order to reduce the amount of algae in ponds, but they have escaped into the Mississippi River and are now contaminating all connecting bodies of water.

There is a brief window we have to stop the spread in Chicago, and there is even a plan to stop it in the form of a Bill in the Senate (that was recently passed by the House), but the American Waterways Operators and other like companies are giving money to Republicans voting against the Bill. They are more concerned with the present economic gains from voting down the Bill, instead of worrying about the future of our Lake Michigan, and all connecting lakes! This is our chance to stop the carp from destroying our currently infestation-free lake. We need to take it.
