THE REAL CAUSE OF SOIL EROSION AND LANDSLIDES! Irresponsible and GREEDY Developers!

THE REAL CAUSE OF SOIL EROSION AND LANDSLIDES! Irresponsible and GREEDY Developers!
Why this petition matters

More and more landslides are being reported in Kemensah that includes some areas in Ampang as well as Melawati in September last year (2021) and more recently March this year (2022) where 4 died and countless forced to evacuate from their homes, and yet nothing has been done to PREVENT another occurrence. No conclusive investigations into the root cause, and rain is again being blamed. AND HERE COMES ANOTHER! LEA BY THE HILLS with 29 STOREYS BY THE RIVER ON A SLOPE!
Prevent Another Deadly Landslide!
More Than 1,000 Slopes At Risk!
Landslide Could Have Been Prevented!
And right in front of our eyes we see forests and greeneries being cleared, and more and more high rise developments being approved to satisfy the greed of developers on what is already a congested market.
According to the MIEA's most recent property market report, 43,860 new residential homes were launched in 2021. There were 31,678 landed properties (43.3 per cent) and 13,182 high-rises (24.9 per cent) BUT only 39.3 per cent of the units were sold, resulting in a 36,863-unit overhang, the biggest in the last five years. This does not include unsold properties from previous years.
THERE IS NO RATIONALE WHATSOEVER IN BUILDING MORE AND DESTROYING NATURE TO DO SO!
One of such is located in Taman Melawati, RIGHT NEXT TO THE KLANG RIVER (literally next to it) on a slope! The developer over the last couple of weeks cleared lush greeneries of what residents nearby described as used to be home for birds and butterflies, as well as what was obviously rain catchment during heavy rain. Now totally bare with construction trucks and piling rigs.
And the development is ironically called L*A by the hills, and perhaps we could add, the hills and nature that it destroyed.
Residents nearby wrote to MPAJ, objecting and demanding for Environmental Impact Assessment but fell on deaf ears. Residents also fear the worse, for a high rise 344 unit apartment building further congesting the single lane access roads to the area. And for the apartment building just a couple of metres next to it, we pray for them as it would be impossible for any rescue attempts in the unfortunate event of an emergency. There will be no possible access for fire trucks or high rise rescue.
From the main road MRR2, the only access is through schools and highly populated residential areas, with at least another two apartment blocks currently under construction, and part of the road, just couple of hundred metres away from this said development is still covered in soil from landslide and erosion from the recent incident.
When will we ever learn. From landslides to soil erosion, and even the recent freak flash floods that had devastated thousands of people, we still turn a blind eye and deaf ears to over and unnecessary developments. Raping mother nature in turn for profits.
Please, not just for the residents of Taman Melawati, but for everyone, for our children and for our future, STOP these developments now. It is already too late, but it needs to be done now.
MPAJ, the Government of the state of Selangor, town planners, environmentalists, nature lovers, WE NEED YOU TO DO SOMETHING. We beg you, do something before it's irreversible.
