Petition updateAdopt Proportional Representation for the House of Commons - we need to make votes matterHunger strike!

The 6th of February marks 100 years since some women won the vote for the first time, but most of us still don't have a vote that matters. Together with some of our most prominent supporters, we'll be spending the day doing a 24-hour hunger strike!
We're doing this to draw attention to the injustice of our First Past the Post voting system and to demand fair elections by Proportional Representation. We call on everyone who wants real democracy to join the movement and take action for change.

You can sign up to support this action online, which would be great. Or, if you feel up to it and are ready to make a big statement, you can join in the 24-hour hunger strike to call for a fair voting system in the UK!
Participation is at your own risk. We advise you to consult a doctor before taking part if you have any health concerns.
Amelia Womack (Green Party), Ben Bradshaw MP (Labour), Frances Foley (Compass), Hywel Williams MP (Plaid Cymru), Jonathan Bartley (Green Party), Mary Honeyball MEP (Labour), Molly Scott Cato MEP (Green Party), Natalie Bennett (Green Party), Paul Oakden (UKIP), Peter Tatchell (human rights campaigner), Polly Toynbee (journalist & commentator), Baroness Sal Brinton (Liberal Democrats) and Stephen Kinnock MP (Labour) have already signed up to join MVM's team and activists to show their hunger for democracy.
Wherever you are on the day, we invite participants and supporters to record a ~30 second video for sharing on social media, saying why you're taking part and why other people should join the movement for Proportional Representation.
Are you hungry for democracy? https://www.makevotesmatter.org.uk/hungry-for-democracy
We recognise the severity of what campaigners went through to win the vote, that for some British people hunger is a daily reality, and that sexism remains prevalent in the 21st Century.
In respect of this, we will invite participants to donate the money they would have spent on food for the day, to be split between a food bank charity, a women's charity and Make Votes Matter.
Join us next Tuesday and let’s win the biggest step forward in British democracy in one hundred years!
