Thank Panera for Adopting a Common-Sense Gun Policy

The Issue

Panera Bread has announced a new gun sense policy in its cafes. 

Their statement says they want "bakery-cafes where customers and associates feel comfortable and welcome. To this end, we ask that guns not be brought into this environment unless carried by an authorized law enforcement officer."

Like so many other companies, Panera has listened to moms, dads and everyday concerned citizens. Our message has come through loud and clear: We deserve to feel safe where we shop and dine with our families.

If companies like Panera, Target, Chipotle, Chili's and Sonic are adopting gun sense policies, there’s no reason why others can’t do the same thing.

Prior to that, I ran the Digital Engagement Department at Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans of America (IAVA). I graduated from Fordham University and while I’ve lived in New York for over a decade now, I grew up all over the world as an Army brat.
