John Feathers has been struggling with weight loss and bad health for quite awhile in the Texas Prison System. The prison healthcare system did not do much to find his underlying problems. Soon after his father's funeral in February, the prison doctors finally decided to look deeper and found a cancerous mass on his pancreas. He has been undergoing Chemo treatments as the tumor is inoperable. He is severely sick and the family would like to be reunited and are calling for his compassionate release from prison to take care of him at home.He has served over 5 years of his sentence of 25 years to life for driving under the influence, a crime where no one was harmed. He had been clean and sober for a year prior to the arrest, and let certain situations cloud his judgement on this one occasion. He has had to endure the deaths of both his son and father during his incarceration. He is a very loving father to 3 other (adult) children and has a wife at home who has been fighting for his release from the start. Please help us get him home. He has served his time. The time that does not even fit the crime. Please help us convince the Texas Parole Board to release him immediately so that he can be with his family during this terrible illness.
