HB 1217 and SB 665 add new responsibilities for Texas Notaries if passed.  It has been 2 decades since an increase in fees has been introduced.  The current fees of $6.00 for the first signature and $1.00 for each additional signature is to low for the responsibility entrusted to Notaries.  We propose an increase to $10.00 per signature for the work we do as commissioned officers of the State of Texas.

We ask our Texas Representatives in the House and Senate to add a fee increase to the already proposed SB 665  which requires additional education for Texas Notaries or introduce a separate bill to address the much needed increase.
