Texas: Let 16-17 Year Olds Drive With More Than One Friend
Texas: Let 16-17 Year Olds Drive With More Than One Friend
The Issue
16-17 Year olds aren’t allowed to drive with more than one non family member (friend) because in 2002 on January 1 Texas officials thought teens were getting hurt or killed in motor vehicle accidents because of more than one friend. But in 2002 and before vehicles didn’t have the same protection as they do now. But now we have vehicles with park assist and sensors to tell you if your going to hit something, we have auto breaking so if someone gets too close or the vehicle think they are going to crash it slows it down or even stops it. Now we have 8-10 airbags instead of 2 and full body seat belts instead of waist belts. So why not allow as many people per seat belt no matter who they are? We have really come a long way from 2002 and before. So isn’t it time for change?
