Stop forcing Texas teachers to return to school during height of COVID-19.

The Issue

Texas teachers should not be forced to return to classrooms during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic in Texas.

The TEA guidelines recently announced grossly neglect the thoughts and concerns of Texas teachers and endanger their health and wellbeing as well as the health and wellbeing of their families.

Teachers should have the CHOICE to return to the classroom and be able to conduct their classes virtually if they choose to do so. They should not receive a reduction in pay, lose their jobs, or be reprimanded in any way should they choose to conduct their classes virtually.

Apart from the health concerns, if teachers are forced to return to the classroom in fear of their lives (not to mention abiding by the laundry list of guidelines recently announced by the TEA) how effective are they going to be at teaching children?

I am not a teacher, but I come from a family of educators and I am doing this for them. I am also disgusted by the gross disregard for teachers during the COVID reopening plan and inability for them to voice their concerns due to potentially losing their jobs and retirement. Where there is risk there must be choice!

Support Texas teachers!
