Why this petition matters

Started by Ben Murray

The environment is a common factor between all human beings, including you and me, and it's in crisis. At the hands of us humans, it is being torn apart, burned, and drained. But we can save it! The key to reversing the damage we've done is through the youth of today. If we can manage to educate students about the environment and show them that it's worth fighting for and how to save it, then we and the earth will have nothing to worry about in the care of such capable, innovative, and caring hands.

My name is Ben Murray, I am enrolled in Cinco Ranch high school and am taking an Environmental science course. I see firsthand at least five or six times a day, real-world application of concepts we learn in class. And I thought "If everyone saw what I see daily and were aware of the effect of their actions, then the world would be substantially healthier. Even if people did one or two things to help, since a great number of people are doing it, it will make a huge difference. This should be a mandatory class!". Which is now our goal!

The first step towards achieving this goal is to motivate the Texas State Board of Education to take action to incorporate Environmental Sciences into the fundamental curriculum of Texas high-schools. The most effective way to take this first step is to sign and share this petition to show support and gather awareness for this pivotal movement for our future. By signing you show your support for this essential change to the State Board of Education, and encourage them to help the planet and future generations.
