Brian Gates started this petition to Texas Christian University and

Texas Christian University has reinstated the mask mandate inside buildings regardless of vaccination status on August 10th.

The state of Texas is currently following the guidelines due to Governor Abbott's executive order banning vaccine and mask mandates in public schools.

This mandate is unfair and not something that is supported by the student body. It is supported by a small group of Professors who want the mandates.

My argument is simple: If wearing a mask and getting vaccinated is what you believe is best for you, do it. If you believe getting vaccinated and not wearing a mask is best for you, do it. If you believe in not wearing a mask or getting a vaccine, do that as well, but you better be taking care of your health.

This petition is all about arguing for the freedom of choice.

The Faculty of Texas Christian University have already had their college experience and did not have to deal with the troubles we have. We have already lost a semester and I want the TCU experience to last as long as possible.

The TCU community needs to focus on promoting good metabolic health for all students and faculty.

Students and Faculty are allowed to go off to bars, restaurants, and gyms with no restrictions in Texas. We can live our lives normally off campus. Now we have to sit in a classroom regardless of vaccination status with a mask on.

Texas Christian University has been amazing to me and I have met friends I will have for life here. I want these years to be the best for everyone, and people should be able to make the choices that they see best fit for themselves.

The Recreation Center was open all summer with no masks and all members have been fine and there have been no outbreaks.

Students want their lives back. No public health officials ever call for people to exercise, eat healthy, and follow actual real health guidelines.

If Professors do not want to teach students who exercise their rights to not wear a mask, then they should consider if they should be teaching here at TCU.

I will not be looked at as a "super-spreader" or "murderer" by some faculty members because I do not have a mask on.

We pay too much money here as students. It's time to realize without the students, there is no Texas Christian University.

I hope that the faculty of TCU can listen to the students opinions, promote real health options, and let us enjoy our TCU experience as we see fit.

Let's stand together as a TCU community. We need as many signatures as possible to show what the student body believes. We must fight for what is best for us, our college experience, and overall development as ethical leaders.
