Venancio Medellin participated in the gang rape and then murder of teenagers, Jennifer Ertman (14) and Elizabeth Pena (16) on June 24, 1993. The victims were repeatedly raped for over 1 hour, then strangled to death while they begged for their lives. Venancio Medellin was the only attacker not sentenced to death due to the fact he was a minor at the time. Three of the six attackers were executed, including Venancio's brother Jose Medellin. Two of the attackers' sentences were commuted to life in prison. It is doubted that Venancio Medellin will ever have any positive contribution to society due to his early gang activity and his lack of empathy demonstrated during the time he was left to his own devices while two young innocents were slowly murdered.
