Maybe you’ve been hearing about multiple sclerosis lately (MS). Actress Selma Blair has been in the news recently because of her courageous walk on the red carpet with her cane and subsequent interviews on the subject of the disease. She is known for her roles in Cruel Intentions and Legally Blonde.

The only thing more shocking than finding out you have MS is finding out the costs associated with the diagnosis.

For a yearly fill of a drug called Copaxone, it could cost you upwards of $70,000. That is an insane amount of money to pay for a drug you need and have been prescribed.

MS is a debilitating disease. It disrupts the flow of information between the brain and the body. This translates into a lack of balance, severe fatigue that interferes with an ability to function in day-to-day life, dizziness, weakness, and general pain.

It’s incurable.

That means that a patient will have to continue taking drugs for their whole lives. What if you can’t afford to take a drug that costs you $70,000 a year?

Americans pay more per average for drugs than any other country in the world.

Teva Pharmaceutical companies charges their brand name Copaxone $5,800 a month. Tell them to lower the price of the vital MS drug.

People have demanded drug prices be brought down. We need to produce a wave of pressure to wash over lawmakers and drug companies - and signing this will be one step of that process.
