Test All the Evidence: Give Jordan Allen a Fair New Trial in Greene County, Tennessee
The Issue
In April 2022, Sherry Cole and Jessie Allen lost their lives in Greene County, Tennessee. Our hearts are with everyone who loved them. Finding the full truth matters for them too.
In May 2026, Jordan Michael Allen, who was 16 in 2022, was convicted. Jordan has always maintained his innocence. His motion for a new trial will be heard on 24 November 2026.
We are a group of people from around the world who followed the public livestream of the trial. Our notes come from unofficial machine transcripts of that livestream, not the official court record, so they may contain errors. They suggest important evidence was never tested or followed up:
1. The sock. Asked about Bill Cole's stained sock, TBI analyst Kim Lowe said: "It was not tested." (unofficial machine transcript)
2. The patrol car swabs. Swabs were taken from where Mr Cole sat in a deputy's patrol car. Asked whether they were tested, Special Agent Ketchum said: "I'm not sure. I don't think so." (unofficial machine transcript)
3. The bedsheet. Only one small cutting from the bedsheet found under the hammer appears to have been tested.
4. The boot DNA. Our notes have Agent Ray agreeing that, after a DNA result on a boot, Mr Cole was not re-interviewed.
5. The witness. Brian Broadwater picked Jordan up that night and gave a written statement consistent with Jordan's account, but the jury never heard from him.
6. The interrogation. Jordan was questioned for more than four hours. A defence expert, cognitive psychologist Dr. Jeffrey Neuschatz, testified that interrogation tactics associated with a higher risk of false confession were used. Asked whether these tactics were used with Jordan, the answer was: "They were." He was also clear about the limits of his evidence. He could not tell the jury whether the confession was false: "All that we can do is talk about risk factors." (testimony, unofficial machine transcript, Day 4) Many supporters believe Jordan's confession is not reliable. We ask that it be weighed against fully tested physical evidence.
We accuse no one of any crime. We are asking for something simple: that science and a fair hearing answer these questions.
We respectfully ask you to:
- Test every untested item of biological evidence, independently where possible.
- Hold an independent review of the investigation and the evidence.
- Support a fair new trial in which all of the evidence is tested and heard.
Untested is not the same as answered. Please sign before 24 November 2026.
