More than ever, I’m hoping that you are all safe and well. Today, I’m writing to tell you of a struggle faced by the animal welfare community and how you can contribute to a brighter future for these creatures.
Covid-19 has devastated so many, suddenly pushing countless charitable organisations into tough times. IAPWA (International Aid for the Protection & Welfare of Animals) is an organisation that I am honoured to represent as an ambassador and one that I will do all I can to support. As well as powerful campaigns, such as the Claws Out pledge which so many of you wonderful people have already signed, IAPWA work tirelessly across the world to reduce the pain and suffering of abused and neglected animals.
As a direct result of the pandemic many activities which generate essential funding have ground to a halt. This is why IAPWA have launched an urgent appeal in hopes of bringing in enough donations to help them to save and support the animals in desperate need of help. Just like the beautiful cats, dogs and wide range of wildlife you could help, I would be forever grateful if you can consider making a donation. Regardless of how much, your contribution will change and save the lives of some of the world's most vulnerable animals.
You can contribute your chosen amount via the following Facebook fundraising page: https://www.facebook.com/donate/191792162119119/2709108332521443/
Alternatively, you can donate £5 by texting ‘IAPWA £5’ to 70470.
In countries such as Borneo, Penang and Romania, IAPWA’s projects and tireless efforts have saved countless lives and sparked long term initiatives to root in positive change on a community scale and wider legislative level. Take Borneo as an example of IAPWA’s vital work… here, their facility provides a lifeline to thousands of stray cats and dogs living in the region. Only yesterday, a number of 6-8 week old puppies were abandoned outside. With the ongoing support of wonderful people like yourself, we are all hoping that these puppies will soon live lives of great health and happiness. Going beyond these rescue and rehabilitation operations, IAPWA have helped to ban the human consumption of cat and dog meat and make animal fighting an illegal activity. Donations have also funded the Bornean Sun Bear Conservation Centre.
It would be near impossible to list every way in which IAPWA teams have brought light to the lives of animals across the globe. Only recently I wrote to tell you of the Claws Out campaign to put an end to the canned hunting of lions - your response was overwhelming and anyone interested in signing the pledge can find it here. what I will say for certain is that any donation you can make to this urgent appeal could be truly transforming for a creature in desperate need.
No matter what this pandemic can take from us all, our compassion does not have to be lost. More than ever, IAPWA needs us to support them in their efforts to see an end to needless suffering, abuse and exploitation.
Thank you, much love and please stay safe,
Lucy x
