Her Majesty's Courts and Tribunal Service is planning to close Corby Magistrate Court. The principle of local justice where local people (magistrates) deal with local offenders at a local court at the heart of the community has been progressively weakened over the last decade. The closure of Corby Magistrates' Court and other courts across the country will be the final nail in the coffin of local justice.

Corby Magistrates’ Court serves a large area of north Northamptonshire, part of which is rural and not well served by public transport.  The closure of Corby Magistrates’ Court would mean victims, witnesses and offenders travelling to court in Wellingborough or Northampton.   Corby magistrates recognise that the additional cost of these lengthy and difficult journeys would be well beyond the means of many court users

 Corby and north Northamptonshire is one of the fastest growing areas in the country and needs good local services.  Corby needs to keep its local Magistrates’ Court.
